Are managers measuring the financial risk in the right manner? An exploratory study - 2013 - 81-94
This article analyses the problems of applying different methods of risk measurement for corporate finance purpose. The methodology to calculate cost of capital with the help of systematic risk is faulty because corporate fiance has ti deal with both systematic and unsystematic risk. After examining three index companies, Mastek, Jet Airlines, and MTNL, the author advocates segregation of risk into bankruptcy and liquidity risk. In this way, unsystematic risk is also priced while determining the value of a company.
