This paper deals with the impact of capital adequacy requirements on credit flow in scheduled commercial banks. The study assesses the impact of important demand side variables and supply side variables particularly capital standards on credit growth in scheduled commercial banks in India. When everbanks desire to reduce the supply of credit, they increase the leavl of govt. scurities in their assets portfolio as the banks get safe returns from these securities.
