The data come from three major indicies and three sectoral indicies of the National StockExchange (NSE) and cover the period from 1998-2009. Contrary to the empirical findings in the developed markets, this study vidence absence of positive correlation and absence of contemporaneous asymmetry in the relation between return per se and volume.
