The financial sector reforms set in motion in 1991 have greatly changed the face of Indian banking. The Indian banking industry has been dominating by the public sector banks. Public sector banks have been playing an important role in the development of Indian economy. The main objective of this article is to make an evaluation of the fnancial performance of Indian Public sector banks with referencr to deposits, advances, business per employee, profit per employee, return on assets and capital adequacy ratio etc.
