This paper is based n a research conducted in four software services organizations with the purpose of understanding perceptions of software professionals towards certain aspects of the performance management system, viz, performance planning, feedback, employee participation; perceived system knowledge; and procedural, distributive and interactional fairness. Result of this study highlight the importance of feedback, role of line managers, employee participation and knowledge regarding system procedures , procedural and distributive fairness of the system.
